Finding an infinite loop in a game shader without running the game
The World of Warcraft beta hung an NVIDIA GPU a few frames after every world load on Linux: Xid 109, device lost, client dead. Recording the Vulkan stream once and replaying it offline turned a hang that needed a logged-in game into one that could be bisected in seventeen-second runs, down to one compute shader with an unbounded tree traversal.

A munmap of the wrong pointer that only crashes sometimes
